Our design philosophy centres around the notion that technology is to be built for the business, and not itself. It’s no surprise, then, that we obsess about being true to the business processes we serve, a truthfulness backed by understanding, knowledge and experience.
objectivitii's business knowledge is written in pure C ++ and is delivered (in this product generation) via the Microsoft COM / COM+ platform (the COM IDL (Interface definition language) is identical to the CORBA (Unix) IDL). Being database agnostic further enhances objectivitii’s flexibility.
Simply put:

objectivitii implements an object-oriented design architecture which facilitates inheritance through a number of common / generic interfaces;

the object oriented design philosophy ensures that each object controls its own actions and what the outside world knows about it; and

with permissioning enabled down to an object level, and the objects themselves impenetrable, objectivitii’s compliance functionality is without equal.
Within the web environment, the objects capitalise on their design by allowing “soft streaming” – the art of discerning and using information streams that are known good, and flagging information or derived results who’s numerical integrity is suspect or compromised.
high level technical overview
Essentially, the suite comprises three applications:

the Base Application which provides all the asset management functionality for general users (portfolio managers / administrators and admin staff) plus all the sys admin functionality for the DBA, and accessed via browser or terminal or other reach device;

the Services Manager - an out of process application which runs as a Windows NT service. It monitors all system activity, performs all rule / limit / permission checks, activity logging, caching, and billing functions. It schedules monitors and logs all batch processing, and provides system administrators with a system overview in terms of activity and health; and
-
the Monitor - provides a real time overview of all exposures and limits (by counterparty / currency / geographic location and instrument / instrument class)- this would typically be used by compliance / risk to monitor these levels.
