FAQ: the solutions platform
is focused on the complex demands of the fund management industry and is built on four frighteningly simple pillars:
What are the front-, middle- and back-office features ?
- The objectivitii suite is not bound by an organisational structure, but rather focuses on the investment process itself. This gives us the flexibility to accurately represent your existing workflow, while maintaining all the compliance and governance functionality. A detailed list of the features can be found here.
What platforms does the system support ?
- The current implementation is delivered via the Microsoft COM / COM+ platform. This covers most bases as the COM IDL (Interface definition language) is identical to the CORBA IDL (Unix IDL). Remember, also, that COM is available on all high and mid-range architectures.
What databases can I run ?
- objectivitii is database agnostic. Your choice of database will, however, impact on system performance and response times. The suite has been extensively stress-tested on both MS SQL and Sybase.
What are implementation costs relative to the license fee ?
- As you can see from our business process, we have a tightly structured implementation procedure which relies heavily on careful planning and up-front research. In general, implementation costs can be expected to be around 30% of the capital value of the up-front license fee.
What about Hedge Accounting and AC133 (AIS39) ?
- In Hedge Accounting, the root of the transaction lies in the initial intention. The system automatically logs AC133-compliant documentation, and the appropriate accounting process is applied.
How will Objectivitii impact on my IT infrastructure & Strategy?
- Only positively.
Existing data sources are exploited and the server-side installation can be deployed on any MS server environment (NT4 or later) any Sun platform, or Lunux/Unix.
Can I access the code for my own development ?
- The compliance-oriented functionality is sacred and cannot be altered. We will, however, make available the SDK for internal development.
